Wash will be assigned to the R&D Lab where York works, although not always on the same shifts. He'll be put to work doing similar tasks to York -- instrument/equipment maintenance and calibration, plus assisting in things like physical labor and other grunt work. Most of the lab is beyond his clearance level -- his badge only gets him into the main laboratory area. There is evidently a lot of math involved in the work here.

They don't really do the internet, per se, but what comconsoles do have is access to things like academic journals, encyclopedic or otherwise nonfiction information, news, etc, as well as sending text or vid-based messages.
