The furry crabs are actually from Sergyar (thank God)! Most of the native fauna on Barrayar are insects, and like the native flora, not very friendly with human physiology. Because the terraforming on Barrayar is still very much incomplete (Earth-derived flora won't grow in pure Barrayaran soil, so all soil terraforming has been done by hand), most animals are domesticated. Any wild animals in this district are Earth-derived and mostly consist of imported species of fish, birds and smaller prey animals such as rabbits. The main natural predators aside from humans are birds of prey.
