[ Mad Yuri's War ] Loyalty System

In the thick of war, there is no higher virtue than loyalty.
In the thick of war, there is no higher virtue than loyalty.
Each character has a loyalty score denoting the number of loyalty points (LP) they have. This score does not necessarily reflect their loyal intentions, but rather indicates how loyal they are perceived to be, and thus, how honorable or trustworthy NPCs may perceive them. A character's loyalty score can lead to unique plot opportunities, influence NPCs' perception of them, and open up loyalty perks.
Loyalty perks are optional rewards that can be claimed if your character's loyalty score meets the threshold. Taking loyalty perks can influence standing with NPCs, open up access to a variety of things and people, teach your character something new, and qualify for different plot and mission opportunities. Loyalty perks often also constitute IC responsibilities. New loyalty perks will emerge as the game progresses. Currently available perks are listed on the Loyalty Perks page.
The main way to accrue LP is through Activity Check. Each character gains 1 LP per AC check-in every month, plus 1 LP per bonus AC proof up to a maximum of 5 bonus proofs -- a total of 6 maximum LP can be gained per month via AC. There are no LP penalties for failing AC or going on hiatus. LP can also be accrued or lost through participation in certain plot opportunities, which will always be marked, and in some cases, as a direct result of character actions. For instance, if your character does something widely considered to be treasonous, they may lose LP; likewise, if they make a heroic sacrifice, they may gain LP. LP gains and losses are decided on a case-by-case basis.
A character’s loyalty score is not an OOC evaluation of the player or character, just a reflection of their activity and in-game actions and choices. We encourage players to engage with the loyalty system however suits them best -- if you’d have more fun playing a character whose LP goes up and down a lot, or who has an overall low score, then go with it! Opportunities can be created for those with low LP as well as high. You only have to engage with the loyalty system as much as you want to -- if loyalty perks aren't particularly interesting to you, then don't feel obligated to scrape together as many bonus AC proofs as you can every month.
If your character is planning on taking major action that will significantly influence their LP (especially in the case of LP loss), please fill out the form below and comment to this post. The amount of LP gain/loss will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Please note that you only need to fill out this form for major action -- getting in a fight with a local bureaucrat probably won't reduce your LP, but to be discovered committing treason or killing a person of importance will.
